Ochberg Fellowships Deadline Friday
Journalists who want to get better at reporting the toughest issues have only three days left to submit their applications for the 2009 Dart Center Ochberg Fellowships. Fellows can look forward to expert training in the science of emotional trauma and how to apply it to storytelling; they can also look forward to joining a great network.
Scroll down the list of a decade of fellows and you'll find a diverse group of innovative journalists, from videographers who cover war to small-town reporters who cover crime, from metro editors to radio producers who specialize in investigative topics. You can find some news about recent fellows at the website of the Dart Society, whose membership includes Ochberg Fellows along with winners of the Dart Center's Dart Award and the Dart Society's Mimi Award:
- Moni Basu (Ochberg Fellow '08) just won an Asian American Journalists Association award for her story "Chaplain Turner's War."
- Ron Haviv ('Ochberg Fellow '04) went to Haiti and Congo taking photographs for an International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (ICRC) humanitarian campaign.
- Dave Cullen's (Ochberg Fellow '02) "Columbine," a definitive account of the 2004 High School massacre, hit #3 on the New York Times bestseller list.
To join them in improving the way the world sees violence and trauma, apply now; the deadline, again, is Friday, July 21.
