Online "PTSD Coach" Makes Coping Strategies More Accessible

After a long struggle to have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) acknowledged as a health condition requiring proper attention and care, the Veteran’s Affairs National Center for PTSD launched an online coach to help those with the condition. PTSD Coach Online offers 17 different online self-help tools led by a video coach to deal with symptoms including anger, sleeping difficulties, and reminders of trauma. The online system allows trauma survivors to learn how to manage their own symptoms at home. There is also a PTSD coach mobile app available here

Based on Department of Veterans Affairs statistics, about eight percent of the American population will have PTSD at some point in their lives. In any single year, approximately 5.2 million Americans may suffer from it.
