The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study

In this video from the 2011 Dart Center workshop "Getting it Right: Reporting on Youth Violence," Robert Anda, M.D. presents the stunning findings from a CDC study of the effects of adverse experiences in early childhood.

Robert Anda, senior researcher in Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, talks about the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) study,  shedding light on the relationship between multiple categories of childhood trauma and health and behavioral outcomes later in life. Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, introduces.
