The Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma, con sede en la Universidad de Washington es un centro de recursos y entrenamiento para estudiantes, educadores, periodistas y organizaciones de noticias interesados en temas relacionados con el periodismo y el trauma. El Dart Center reconoce y promueve la excelencia en el reporte de víctimas de violencia y entrena a periodistas en temas relacionados con trauma en colaboración con International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies fue fundada en 1985 por profesionales con el propósito de compartir información de los efectos causados por un trauma. Se dedica al descubrimiento y difusión de conocimiento de iniciativas políticas, de programas y servicios orientados a reducir a corto y largo plazo las consecuencias provocadas por el éstres traumático. Algunos miembros de esta organización incluyen siquiatras, psicólogos, trabajadores sociales, enfermeras, orientadores, investigadores, administradores, activistas, periodistas y otros más interesados en estudiar y tratar el éstres traumático.

Joe Hight

  • Joe Hight, director of information and development for The Oklahoman/NewsOK.com, was president of the Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma’s Executive Committee. In 1995, he led the team of reporters and editors who covered victims of the Oklahoma City bombing. The Oklahoman’s coverage won several national awards, including The Dart Award for Excellence in Reporting on Victims of Violence.

Frank Smyth

  • Frank Smyth is a free-lance journalist and a contributor to Crimes of War: What the Public Should Know, edited by Roy Gutman and David Rieff. He also is the Washington representative of the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists.
