Research as Witness: Psychological Studies of Extreme Historical Event

February 7, 2013
6:00pm

Dr. Robert J Lifton, the leading psychiatrist and researcher on psychology of war, will describe the experience of the researcher in four different studies: in Hong Kong on Chinese and Westerners subjected to “thought reform”; in Hiroshima on Japanese survivors and the atomic bomb; in the United States on Vietnam veterans; and in Germany on Nazi doctors. He will emphasize ethical and religious issues that arose, as well as resilience in destructive environments.

The seminar will be held on Columbia Universiy's morningside campus in Davis Auditorium, located in the Shapiro CEPSR building. Click here for map.
