Through portraits and interviews with veterans wounded in Iraq, Nina Berman's Purple Hearts project seeks to connect the experience of soldiers and civilians. Taken in homes, hospitals and military bases throughout the United States, the voices and images in her work make plain the lasting physical and psychological consequences of war.
