Lecture: Helping Haitian Journalists Cover the Earthquakes

For one week in March, Elana Newman, McFarlin Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Tulsa joined the Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma team to assist Haitian Journalists. As part of a three-person team, Dr. Newman conducted workshops with more than 170 journalists in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Léogâne and Petit Goave to foster awareness about the impacts of trauma, on them, their families and their audiences. This presentation will focus on the specifics of her trip as well as general impressions of Haiti and its reconstruction.
