Guide for Reporting on Early Childhood

The Guide for Reporting on Early Childhood offers theoretical knowledge and practical tools for journalists to improve their understanding of the youngest children and to change the way they approach covering them. It grows out of the Dart Center’s Early Childhood Journalism Initiative, a multi-year program to deepen understanding of the developing brain and promote ethical and informed reporting on the youngest children.

The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma Global Institute for Reporting on Early Childhood and Caregivers was held March 8-11 at Columbia University in New York City. The institute brought together 30 journalists from 17 countries for four-days of panels, workshops and conversations on early childhood development and innovative, ethical reporting on the youngest children and their caregivers.
