Director
Juliana Ruhfus an award-winning filmmaker, television presenter and executive producer specialising in investigative and current-affairs programming. She took over as Director of Dart Centre Europe (DCE) in September 2022, leading the organization's transition into a more decentralised European organisation with the capacity to deliver a greater range of training, research, and fundable programmes that reflect the changing needs of journalists and media organisations today.
 
Prior to joining DCE, Juliana spent 16 years at Al Jazeera English as the channel’s senior presenter on the People & Power investigative and current affairs programme, where she reported and directed over 60 films in nearly 50 countries. Juliana has also worked as an executive producer for BBC World Service TV, tasked with setting up an investigative unit in India, and as a freelance reporter and filmmaker for Channel 4, WDR, NHK and other global broadcasters. She continues to work as a mentor on journalism projects for organisations, including JournalismFund.eu and Open Democracy, while serving on the boards of the Environmental Justice Foundation and eyeWitness to Atrocities, a project of the International Bar Association. 
 
She was selected as a Dart Centre Ochberg Fellow in 2012, and then served on DCE’s Board of Directors for a decade. She has received a scholarship for Harvard’s Global Trauma Programme, and is trained in Narrative Exposure Therapy.
