Lawrence Pintak

Lawrence Pintak is founding dean of the Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University and publisher/co-editor of the online journal Arab Media & Society. He is the author of "The New Arab Journalist: Mission and Identity in a Time of Turmoil."

Previously, Pintak was director of the Kamal Adham Center for Journalism Training and Research at The American University in Cairo and a former CBS News Middle East correspondent in the 80s and 90s. He covered the Iran-Iraq War, the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the birth of suicide bombing, and the overthrow of President Suharto (for ABC News and The San Francisco Chronicle). His other books include "Reflections in a Bloodshot Lens: America, Islam and the War of Ideas" (2006).
