Matthew Nock

Matthew Nock, Ph.D., is a 2011 MacArthur Fellow. Since 2003, he has been affiliated with Harvard University, where he is currently a professor in the Department of Psychology.

He is the editor of Understanding Nonsuicidal Self-Injury: Origins, Assessment and Treatment (2009), and his scientific articles have appeared in such publications as the Journal of the American Medical Association, the British Journal of Psychiatry, and the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.

In addition to winning a prestigious MacArthur award, Nock received an Award for Distinguished Early Career Scientific Contribution to Psychology from the American Psychological Association in 2010. He has also earned awards from the American Association of Suicidology and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, as well as teaching awards at Harvard.
