From anonymous trolls to the President of the United States, attempts to threaten, harass and delegitimize investigative reporters have become pervasive. Four decades after the assassination of Don Bolles, this panel will explore practical strategies for staying safe, staying sane and staying on course in today's climate


Investigative Reporter Dave Biscobing leads the ABC15 Investigators for KNXV in Phoenix, Ariz. He's been with the station since 2008 and previously worked as a reporter at the East Valley Tribune. Biscobing is a winner of a 2016 IRE Award and was previously a finalist for the award in 2011.

Ismael Estrada is a veteran producer with CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 covering breaking and investigative news. He's investigated stories related to government corruption, religious institutions, and abuse of power. Ismael has worked on breaking news in the U.S., Middle East, Europe, Asia, South & Central America and has covered border related issues. Estrada is an emmy award winner and earned a Peabody Award for his work with Anderson Cooper during the Gulf Oil Spill.

Bruce Shapiro is executive director of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, based at Columbia Journalism School. He is editor of Shaking the Foundations: 200 Years of Investigative Journalism in America. @dartcenter

Investigative Producer/Photojournalist for KPHO in Phoenix, Az. Among his awards. Over 20 Emmy Awards, three Edward R. Murrow awards, Arizona Press Club Television Photog of the year, Phx New Times named him Best Television Journalist... twice and NATAS Silver Circle Award recipient. He's covered the L.A. Riots, Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and street fights in downtown Phoenix. He is an Associate Professor at the Cronkite School of Journalism.
