Talk: Mental Health and Trauma in Journalism

January 28, 2021
7:30 pm EDT

The Chicago Headline Club is proud to present a training on mental health and trauma in journalism. In the wake of a pandemic, a presidential election, and civil unrest sparked by police violence, it is more important than ever that we take care of ourselves as we report on critical events in our city.

Joining us is Elana Newman, Ph.D., professor of psychology at The University of Tulsa and research director of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma. Newman will offer an introduction to trauma science, best psychological practice for interviewing survivors, self-care on the job, and best practices within newsrooms, and answer questions from participants at the end.

To attend this FREE training, please register for a spot in advance. All are welcome. This training will be streamed over Facebook Live on the Chicago Headline Club Facebook page and saved for future viewing.
