2021 Dart Awards Presentation & Roundtable, hosted by Kate Snow

September 30, 2021
6:00pm EST

The Dart Awards for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma recognize exemplary journalism on the impact of violence, crime, disaster and other traumatic events on individuals, families or communities. This year's Dart Awards were given to Gimlet and Spotify for "Shake the Room," the Anchorage Daily News with ProPublica for "Unheard," and the Associated Press for "Lives Lost." Honorable mentions were awarded to the Star Tribune (Minneapolis) for their coverage of George Floyd's murder, TIME for "Contagion of Fear," and Univision News Digital for "Trapped in Mexico."

On September 30, NBC News' Kate Snow hosted a live virtual ceremony, featuring roundtable discussions that illuminated the questions of craft, ethics and storytelling in the journalists' work, and explored innovative best practices in hard-hitting, humane reporting on violence and tragedy.
