The Dart Centre for Journalism and Trauma Europe (DCE) is looking for a part-time Project Manager to join our team for three days a week.

Dart Centre Europe is the regional hub for the Dart Centre for Trauma and Journalism, a project of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. It is dedicated to informed, innovative and ethical news reporting on violence, conflict and tragedy.

Delivered by staff in the UK and Berlin alongside global networks of journalists, educators, researchers and clinicians, Dart Centre Europe supports journalists and newsrooms with training and research. We focus on trauma-informed interviewing, reporting with vulnerable contributors and survivors of violence, and approaches that recognise journalists as ‘first responders’ in times of crisis. At all stages, the psychological resilience of journalists is key to our work.

Your role, answering to the Development Director, will be to support our growth and new partnerships as we work with a range of organisations seeking Dart Centre expertise, training and consultancy. You will be the first point of contact for potential cooperation partners and you will organise and coordinate training programmes.

This is an important time for Dart Centre for Journalism and Trauma Europe. As demands for our services grow, we’re also increasing the scope of our ambitions. Our new strategy means you will work across a range of training programmes, including a retreat that explores the relationship between reporting on global warming, environmental disasters and climate anxiety. You will liaise with newsrooms, journalism organisations, and clinical psychologists.

During periods of crisis such as the global pandemic or the conflict in the Ukraine, journalists need our support more than ever. We’re looking for an adaptable, proactive, and process-driven individual whose role will grow as the organisation expands.

We can offer a challenging, varied and mission-led role within a friendly, experienced team. You’ll be working alongside our Development director Juliana Ruhfus and our Network director Jeanny Gering. You can be based anywhere. We work remotely and support flexible working hours.
