Journalism and Trauma Retreat for regional journalists in Australia

Dart Centre Asia Pacific is offering a special program for 12 journalists working in regional areas in Australia.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN & WILL CLOSE ON AUGUST 31ST, 2024 - APPLY NOW

Journalists working in regional areas sometimes have less support than their city counterparts, and often experience different kinds of trauma exposure (for example, trauma that impacts their own communities, family and friends).
We are excited to be able to offer regional journalists this exclusive opportunity to participate in a Dart Centre Asia Pacific program.

WHERE & WHEN?

The retreat will be held at Curlewis Golf Club on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia on October 4-6, 2024. It will start with dinner on Friday and conclude after lunch on Sunday.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

The full cost of the program including accommodation and all meals will be covered by Dart Centre Asia Pacific.  Funding does not extend to covering the full cost of participant travel to and from the retreat venue, however you will receive a $150 travel contribution towards the cost of making your own way to and from the retreat venue.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE PROGRAM?

This weekend program will involve group interactions and experiences, supplemented with more formal learning about trauma and its impacts. It is designed to help you to identify trauma responses in yourself and others, interview trauma survivors, support colleagues in your newsroom, and build a protection plan for your trauma exposure, including exposure from technology-facilitated violence and abuse.

HOW DO I APPLY?

This is an intimate retreat program with a maximum of 12 participants so if you are interested, apply now! APPLICATIONS WILL CLOSE  ON 31 AUGUST 2024.
