Keynote: Maria Hinojosa on Cross-Cultural Reporting

In this video from the 2011 Dart Center workshop "Out of the Shadows: Reporting on Intimate Partner Violence," broadcast journalist Maria Hinojosa talks about reporting on violence across cultures.

Maria Hinojosa is the host of "One on One" on WGBH and "Latino USA" on NPR, and has a long and illustrious broadcast journalism career. Her work on the recent Frontline series "Lost in Detention" exposed sexual assault in immigration detention centers. She discusses what she has learned about reporting on violence across cultures. Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, introduces.

This video is from a two-day workshop held at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in October, 2011, made possible by generous funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: "Out of the Shadows: Reporting on Intimate Partner Violence."
