The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a project of the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, is seeking a part-time summer employee to support its website (dartcenter.org) and other programs. The position is flexible. Perfect for a recent graduate with another part-time summer internship. Please note: pay is hourly and does not include benefits.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identifying outreach opportunities for the Dart Center website, Ochberg Fellowships and Dart Awards programs
- Editing, classifying and migrating articles to the new Dart Center website
- Coordinating reproduction of Dart DVDs and other materials
- Organizing and consolidating communications materials
- Assistance promoting Dart Center events
- Fulfilling publications requests and assembly of conference materials
Applicant MUST meet these qualifications:
- College degree
- Experience in editing articles and copy-editing using a style guide
- Proficiency with HTML markup
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and other text editing applications
- Familiarity with online media (journalistic websites, blogs, etc.)
The following qualifications are desirable but not essential:
- Experience with Content Management Systems and content taxonomies (especially Drupal).
- Proficiency in Drupal development, or in coding PHP.
- Proficiency with specialized web applications like Yahoo Pipes
- Proficiency editing images and video using programs like Adobe PhotoShop and Final Cut Pro.
