Symposium: Moscow’s Hybrid War in Ukraine
BH8 8EB
This symposium provides a platform to discuss a new form of war, ‘Hybrid War’, under inclusion of aspects of ‘cyber-terrorism’ and ‘cyber-war’ before the backdrop of Russia’s ‘Ukrainian Spring’ and the continuing threat posed by radical Islamist groups in Africa and the Middle East. It will include a presentation of research findings from an on-going Hybrid Threat project by the Swedish National Defence College.
This interdisciplinary symposium will scrutinise military doctrines, traditional approaches to war and peace and its perceptions; at the heart of the symposium is the question whether responses to such threats need to change in the future.
Panels will cover the following issues:
- History of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict
- Operational Aspects
- Legal Aspects
- Transitional Justice
- Media and Conflict
Proposals of contributions consisting of a 200 word abstract should be sent to [email protected] and [email protected]. Please indicate whether you are willing to chair a panel. The deadline for submissions is January 23, 2015.
