Support the Dart Center this #GivingTuesday

When I walk into newsrooms around the world, reporters, editors and photographers all want to know three things: How to stand up to threat and abuse; how to mitigate the impact of traumatic news coverage; and how to report in ways that make a difference in the lives of survivors of violence, whether through war, forced migration, sexual or identity-based violence, mass shootings, or disaster.

I’m proud that news professionals count on the Dart Center, a project of Columbia Journalism School. They rely on our pioneering research on reporters’ safety and resilience, our innovative training programs and our robust resource library on effective, ethical reporting on trauma which has set the global standard. The Dart Center plays a critical role in the worldwide campaign to defend press-freedom  and innovative, trauma-informed reporting is a crucial push-back against authoritarians, oligarchs and abusers of power everywhere.

This #GivingTuesday, please consider a contribution to the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma. To make a contribution (fully tax-deductible in the U.S.), visit the secure Columbia Journalism School online donation site. In the "Division" drop-down menu choose "Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma" and follow the online prompts. Any contribution, however small, makes a difference in our ability to do this important work.

Thank you, and best wishes for the holidays,
