Courtney Stein
Courtney Stein is an associate producer for Radio Rookies, a New York Public Radio initiative that provides teenagers with the tools and training to create radio stories about themselves, their communities and their world. She assists in teaching radio and multimedia workshops and works alongside Rookie Reporters to produce stories for air on WNYC Radio.
Stein started out as a youth worker, directing a youth-run restaurant in a Minneapolis park. From there she moved to New York to study social work and community organizing. She made the jump to radio soon after hearing a Radio Rookies story on her Walkman. After training at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and interning at StoryCorps and American RadioWorks, Courtney joined Radio Rookies as a production assistant in 2007 and is now an associate producer.
